Alexandra O'Connor, soprano

soprano voice
biography
Ms. O'Connor began singing at a young age and after singing the role of Cinderella in Rogers & Hammerstein's "Cinderella" she decided to pursue her passion for music more seriously by attending the Governor's School for the Arts in Norfolk, Virginia.  While studying there, she was exposed to opera, music theory, foreign language diction, opera scenes, vocal history, art song, choral music, and small jazz ensemble. She graduated from both GSA and public high school in 2009.

From there she studied Music Therapy and Vocal Performance at East Carolina University, graduating Magna Cum Lauda with a 3.7 GPA and a Bachelors degree in Vocal Performance.  While attnending school, she interned as the Soprano section leader at St. James Methodist church, sang a half Junior recital and full Senior recital, participated in the jazz vocal ensemble, and sang in the chorus for two operas, "Le Nozze di Figaro" and "Lizzie Borden."  She also sang for renowned visiting artists in master classes and often served as the substitute studio leader and chorual conductor when professors were out.

She continues to sing and hopes to perform in many more opportunities as her and her husband, graphic designer Brendan O'Connor, move to San Francisco, CA. She sings opera, jazz standards, musical theater and contemporary popular style in weddings, church settings, operas, and recital settings.
