Kirsty Griffiths

mezzo or alto voice
About

Kirsty, a mezzo-soprano,  is currently paving her way as an interpreter of orchestral works with voice such as Brahms Alto Rhapsody, Elgar's Sea Pictures (with Marlborough Concert Orchestra in 2013) and Wagner's Wesendonk-Lieder, as well as establishing herself as an Oratorio soloist (Handel's Messiah, Pergolesi's Stabat Mater, Beethoven's Thamos in Agypten, Haydn's Salve Regina to name but a few).

As a concert artist, she regularly gives recitals.  In recent years she has performed vocal recitals for the "Prestige Artist" series in Geneva however it was through her recital for H.R.H. Princess of Thailand and performance at the Chateau d'Andert that she met Kimball Gallagher  resulting in an extraordinary partnership, a duo that will be performing recitals of Elgar's Sea Pictures, Faure's l'Horizon Chimérique and other works in their 2013-2014 concert series.

Formerly she performed for Prince Hassan of Jordan for the Caux Palace Initiatives of Change.  In 2010-11 she toured with recitals based on Arianna a Naxos, performing the settings by Monteverdi, Handel, Strauss, Marcello up to the more recent setting of Carl Orff.  Kirsty also performed Rule Britannia in Victoria Hall, La Madelaine and in Hungerford for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee in 2012.  In November 2013 she performed as soloist for the Friends of India charity event with the Corps d'Elite de Genève at Victoria Hall in Geneva.

In her early career, she was a member of the complementary chorus of the Grand Théâtre de Genève opera while also being an active opera soloist (Dorablla in Mozart Cosi fan Tutte & Second Lady in die Zauberflöte and Zita in Puccini's Gianni Schicchi).

In addition to her vocal career, Kirsty conducts the Chorus of the United Nations (Geneva) and has conducted the ILO Chorus since 2009.  The United Nations Chorus performs on a regular basis, participating with the Healing for Nations concert with the Medical Musical Group; performances at the Lutheran Church in Geneva, World AIDS Day, the WHO Solidarity Fair, radio broadcasts for the Kiosque à Musiques with RTS; amongst many other concerts.

For fun, Kirsty plays Irish fiddle as a founder member of MusiCelta, performs as an amateur harpist (recently performing in Oradea, Romania, Geneva and in Zurich under the direction of Flavius Filip for "A Christmas Celebration"), she has diplomas in flute and piano (her first "love" on which she performed Brahms' second piano concerto at the age of 20).
