Samuel MARINO

countertenor, soprano voice
biography
Samuel Mariño is a 22 year-old singer from Venezuela. He started playing the piano at the Simon Bolivar National Conservatory as he was growing up in Caracas. He also studied ballet at the national school of the Teresa Carreño Theater while singing in several choirs, including the choir of the Schola Cantorum of Venezuela. He began singing opera as a sopranist at the Camerata Baroca in Caracas where he had the opportunity to work with conductors such as Gustavo Dudamel, Helmuth Riling and Theodore Kuchar and to discover his passion for baroque music. Samuel Mariño was then admitted in the opera singing class at the National Art University of Caracas.

In order to enhance his experience in the baroque repertoire he followed the advice of Sandrah Silvio and moved to Paris and started studying with Nicole Fallien. The same year, he passed the exams of the Royal Conservatory of Brussels and of the Regional Conservatory of Paris. His journey into baroque music has led him to work with several artists, including harpsichordist Iakovos Pappas.

Samuel Mariño’s unique, agile and sparkling voice and his musical expertise enable him to undertake the most demanding forms of opera. He has already held many roles in operas by Monteverdi, Haendel, Porpora, Vivaldi, Hasse, Mozart and Salieri and he has sung a number of oratorios and cantatas. Since he moved to Europe, he has performed as a soloist in several concerts in France and in Spain.
