Edmar Tuul (born March 1990 in Tallinn) was rewarded in 2014 with the Gustav Ernesaks’ academic scholarship, which is one of the greatest recognitions that a young conductor can receive in Estonia. In the same year, Edmar achieved III place in the competition for Estonian young conductors and received a special reward of the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. The music council of the Estonian Choral Association nominated Edmar Tuul as the young conductor of the year twice.

In April of 2016 Edmar was invited to the Baltic Youth Philharmonic workshop (teacher maestro Kristjan Järvi) to prepare the orchestar for there tour called „Baltic Sea Landscapes“. In the same year he is also invited back to the Gstaad Conducting Academy (within Gstaad Menuhin Festival).

Since September of 2015 Edmar Tuul is the chief conductor of 4 choirs and 4 orchestras such as: Baltic Academy Orchestra, Music High School Symphony Orchestra, Youth orchestra Reaalmažoor, Pärnu Regional Symphony Orchestra. In addition he is the manager/assistant conductor of Estonia Academy of Music and Theatre Sinfonietta.
Edmar is also one of the youngest conductors who have been invited to conduct at the 2017 Estonian Song Celebration in front of 20 000+ singers and musicians.

In 2015 Edmar debuted in the internationally renowned Estonian Music Days Festival conducting 7 world premieres. In the same year he assisted maestro Tõnu Kaljuste in the production of “Adam’s Passion” (directed by Robert Wilson, music by Arvo Pärt). In the summer Edmar participated in the Gstaad Conducting Academy. The teachers there were: Neeme Järvi, Leonid Grin, Kristjan Järvi and Gennady Rozhdestvensky. In December Edmar was invited, as one of the youngest conductors, to conduct the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra at their concert tour in Estonia.

Since 2007 Edmar Tuul is the chief conductor of youth orchestra Reaalmažoor which he and an Estonian composer Rasmus Puur established. With the orchestra he has performed over 80 times all over Estonia (in all of the big concert halls) and given out 6 CDs. Tallinn Education Department has named Edmar as Tallinn’s “Cultural developer and Contributer” of the year 2009 and Realmažoor has received a reward of „ Suured teod Tallinna noortele ja Tallina noorte suured teod“ („Great deeds for young people of Tallinn and great deeds of young people of Tallinn“).
As the chief conductor of youth orchestra Reaalmažoor Edmar has cooperated also with theaters like the Estonian National Opera, the Theater NO99 (opera “Katuselt”), the In Theater and the Estonian State Youth Theater (musical “Shrek”). In 2013, a concert program “Teel Koju” (“On the way home”) was filmed in collaboration with the Estonian Public Broadcasting Station, which was dedicated to the independence day of the Republic of Estonia.

Edmar Tuul graduated Tallinn Secondary Science School in 2009. In 2007, he graduated trumpet speciality at Tallinn Music School and has studied bassoon and orchestral conducting at Georg Otsa conservatory in Tallinn. Edmar has also been an active member of the Estonian National Opera Boy’s Choir (since 1999) and the Revalia Male Chamber choir (since 2008, conductor Hirvo Surva). Since 2012, Edmar is studying choir conducting (Prof. Tõnu Kaljuste) in the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre.

In addition to his own orchestras and choirs Edmar has conducted the Gstaad Festival Orchestra, Tallinn Chamber Orchestra, Estonian National Youth Symphony Orchestra, Estonian Music teachers Symphony Orchestra, Estonian National Male Choir, Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir, Pärnu City Orchestra, Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre Mixed Choir and several other choirs.

Edmar has studied conducting under the guidance of Neeme Järvi, Tõnu Kaljuste, Gennady Rozhdestvensky, Kristjan Järvi, Leonid Grin, Hirvo Surva and Lukas Groen.
