Solo pianist, chamber music performer and accompanist of singers, Antonio Vaz Lemes was born in São Paulo and holds solid musical training background as both popular and classical musician. He is a graduate of prestigious Brazilian institutions, such as the Conservatory of Tatuí, the Arts Institute of UNESP and EMESP Tom Jobim.


In France, in addition to a productive period taking lessons with Noël Lee, he attended the Conservatoire Américain de Fontainebleau and the Académie Francis Poulenc. In between classes and master classes, he received guidance from teachers like Phillipe Entremont, Alicia de Larrocha, Jean - Phillipe Collard, Christian Ivaldi, Nahin Marum and Gilberto Tinetti.

As a pianist, he has conducted several works with renowned characters of the Brazilian classical music scene. Among them, a partnership with the singer Edson Cordeiro stands out, with whom he recorded the acclaimed album Contratenor (Countertenor) that was nominated for a Latin Grammy Awards® in the category Best Classical Album, in 2006. With the support of CAPES research grant, he earned a master's degree in piano performance with the research Pianistic Fingerings and its relationships with technical and musical principles, from the Arts Institute of UNESP. 

Currently residing in São Paulo, Antonio Vaz Lemes is a professor at the Municipal School of Arts Initiation (EMIA), where he develops numerous pedagogical activities related to childhood piano initiation.

Sonata Brasileiram, his first solo album, has been seen as a pionner work in Brazil. It's the first tribute to the Brazilian piano sonatas, and the first original album-app of classical music ever released.
