Bethany hollenbeck

viola, violin
biography
I started playing the violin at the age of 6.  I took private lessons with Natalie Jankowski up until the age of 10.  That is when I switched to viola and started taking private lessons with Ramon Scavelli.
I attended Boston University's Tanglewood Institute for quartets and orchestra.  I also attended Encore and studied under Jeffrey Irvine and Lynne Ramsey. I was principal violist in both the Junior District Orchestra and Virginia All State Orchestra.  I was also principal violist in the American Youth Philharmonic Orchestra.

I chose to major in viola performance and music education.  I attended Northwestern University for my freshman year of college and studied under Roland Vamos.  I then transferred to James Madison University and studied under Amadi Azikiwe.  I was the principal violist in JMU's Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Dr. Robert McCashin.
