biography
Rachel has just graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland where she studied with Robert Irvine and Rudi De Groote. She has previously performed as a soloist with Perth Youth Orchestra and as a member of Perth Symphony Orchestra, the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland, NYOS Futures, The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland Junior Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra, Edinburgh Contemporary Music Ensemble, Edinburgh Incidental Orchestra, Latitude Symphony Orchestra, Glasgow Philharmonia and Said Ensemble. During her time at the Conservatoire she has played in the Symphony Orchestra, Opera orchestra and Ballet Orchestra and for the Musical Theatre productions of Carousel and Betty Blue Eyes. She has also performed as part of the pit band for musicals produced by Harlequin Youth Theatre and as part of the orchestra for 'Les Sirens' female choir. She also has played in string quartets for Glasgow singer songwriters and pop groups. She has played in various chamber groups and has attended the Cadenza Summer Music course and the Alasdair Fraser fiddle course on Skye where she began to learn Scottish Traditional Music. She has played in masterclasses with Peter Wispelway, Ursula Smith, Erkki Lahesmaa and Su-a Lee and after performing at the Perth Music Festival, was awarded the St. Fillans Music Grant for aspiring, young, classical musicians.
