Born in 1974, cellist Martin Rummel is not only the last pupil of the legendary William Pleeth, but also with over 40 CD albums on labels such as Naxos and Capriccio one of the most distinguished cellists of his generation. As a soloist and chamber musician he regularly performs with orchestras and at festivals and venues throughout Europe, Asia, Oceania and the Americas. Between 2000 and 2014, Mr Rummel held teaching positions in Germany and New Zealand and is, effective January 2016, Head of School at the School of Music at the University of Auckland. Mr Rummel is the owner and mastermind of paladino media (with the labels Kairos, paladino music, Orlando Records and Austrian Gramophone). For both his instruments, he uses strings by Thomastik-Infeld, Vienna.
