Živa Ploj Peršuh - Conductor

Internationally, she has conducted the Baden-Baden Philharmonic Orchestra, the Wurttemberg Philharmonic Orchestra Reutlingen, the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, the Plovdiv Philharmonic Orchestra, the Wroclaw Philharmonic, the Serbian Camerata Academica Novi Sad and Camerata Serbica. She has collaborated on musical projects in Mannheim and at the Lucerne Festival. She has conducted the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestras of the Slovene National Theatre Maribor and Ljubljana, the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra, the Camerata Serbica and the Camerata Academica Novi Sad, the Orchestra Festine, The String Chamber Orchestra of the Ljubljana Academy of Music and she was also conductor of the Symphonic Orchestra of the Ljubljana Conservatory of Music. With her Ljubljana International Orchestra she toured in Italy, Serbia, Great Britain and Spain.

Živa Ploj Peršuh has broad repertoire from baroque to contemporary music and she regularly collaborates with Slovene composers, especially Lojze Lebič. She is intensively involved in the education of children and youth with the Family Cycle Festinice. She has worked with many Slovene musicians as Janez Podlesek, Igor Mitrović, Jože Kotar, Mihael Šuler, Boštjan Lipovšek and Sabina Cvilak. In the field of contemporary dance she is closely connected to the EnKnapGroup and the choreographer Iztok Kovač.

She is the Artistic Director of the Branimir Slokar Academy within which she works with such soloists as Branimir Slokar, Wolfram Christ, Latica Honda-Rosenberg, Jens-Peter Maintz, Reinhold Friedrich, Gregory Ahss, Konstantin Pfiz, Yuri Kalnits, Gilad Karni, Emanuel Abbuhl, Klaus Arp and others. The Academy has been launched as a career center for young musicians at the end of their formal education and is providing to the young artists with vocational studies, masterclasses and other experiental education. While facilitating peer support and exchange among artists, the Academy trains artists to be self-reliant and proactive in developing their arts career. 

In Slovene National Theater in Ljubljana she recently conducted Strauss' Salome and in Teatro Verdi in Trieste Swan Lake both with great acclaim. She conducted Meso srca / Heartmeat, a new contemporary dance premiere choreographed by recently awarded Rosana Hribar and Gregor Luštek and Verdi's Otello in January 2016. In recent season she has conducted Puccini's Madama Butterfly and Ballet Symphony of Sorrowful Songs by Tomaž Pandur. 

In the season 2017/2018 she will return to the Slovene National Theater with Madama Butterfly and new production of The Beauty and the Beast, opera by Glass as the first Slovene staging of the piece.
