The Trumpet Shall Sound – New CEO for the RSNO

The Royal Scottish National Orchestra (RSNO) just announced the appointment of Alistair Mackie as its new Chief Executive. He will start in April 2019. He follows Dr. Krishna Thiagarajan who left the orchestra at the end of the summer 2018 to take up his new position as President and CEO of the Seattle Symphony

Mackie is an acclaimed trumpet player who has joined the Philharmonia Orchestra in 1996 where he is Joint Principal Trumpet. He regularly plays in other orchestras.

His management experience is limited to a stint as Interim Managing Director of the Philharmonia Orchestra for eight months in 2016/17. From public information neither management expertise nor international experience can be deducted.

We wish Mackie and the RSNO all the best in their future collaboration!
