Bank Austria öffnet Kunstpreis für Crowdfunding
2015-09-10 Kurier, Vienna

Opener smashing with protest music mastery of pianist duo Onder Sisters
2015-09-27 The Blade, Toledo

Turkish composer Fazil Say's 2013 "Gezi Park," a musical depiction of the peaceful protest over an Istanbul park's planned demise that turned deadly, received its North American debut in the Peristyle last night.

Written for the talented Onder twins, it was given a convincing and nuanced performance by the duo pianists and the orchestra. Very programmatic in concept, with a cunning mix of Eastern and Western harmonics, the concerto traces the action from evening until the next day in three sections.

A dramatic finale has the orchestra tacit the pianists performing an extended cadenza.

As an encore after a standing ovation, the Onder sisters played a wonderful two-handed version of Astor Piazzolla's classic "Libertango."

Deeply moved by the Gezi Park protests in Spring 2013 Fazil Say wrote a concerto for two pianos and orchestra. He dedicated it to Ferhan and Ferzan Önder.

The concerto can be next heard on 30 May 2014, one year after everything began, at the Volkstheater in Vienna. Fazil Say will also perform the Gezi Park Sonata. Martin Grubinger and the Percussive Planet will play the percussion part. The Württembergische Philharmonie plays conducted by Ola Rudner.

Ferhan & Ferzan with Christian Arming
Signing after a wonderful performance of Fazil Say's Gezi Concerto written for Ferhan & Ferzan with the Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liège conducted by Christian Arming.
 Hamburger Abendblatt ,
