Paris calling!!! … up to Nov 12th only!!
FAQ: how do I get the decision makers to listen to our
Well, this of course
is not only what emerging String Quartets ask themselves,
but you will see below why this is especially interesting
for them this time!
In general I would answer this question by saying,
keep inviting the decision makers you are aiming at to
Write to them early enough so they might still have
place in their busy calendars.
Make sure you know who is doing what at the venue
you are writing to, address people with their name.
A simple „dear Sir or Madame“ or a „to whom this may concern“
will go directly to the bin I am afraid.
If you can’t go through the trouble of finding
out who they are, why should they bother turning up at your
A little extra tip is, don’t only write to the Intendant,
CEO or managing Director but find out who is the 2nd in command
- they are normally very influential when it
comes to picking young artists and will turn out
to be your ally in convincing the top that
you indeed are the right choice for their young artist series.
But today I recommend that you have a look at this
rare and amazing opportunity to showcase your
ensemble to right people on the highest level!
Twelve years ago the
Cité de la musique
in Paris started
their String Quartet Biennial
and it quickly has become a celebrated event for lovers
of this repertoire.
In 11 weeks from now music lovers will hear works by Mozart,
Schubert, Brahms, Beethoven, Ravel and Debussy and
Shostakovich’s fifteen string quartets as well
as a tribute to Dutilleux.
And the list of quartets gathering
in Paris is mouthwatering:
The Dover, Sigmum, Szymanowski, Arditti, Jerusalem, Hugo Wolf, Artemis, Pazifica, Casal, Tetzlaff, Hagen and the Renaud Capucon Quartet
to name only a few.
Emmanuel Hondré, Director of the Concerts Department of the Philharmonie de Paris
and his team have not only put together the programme but
also dreamt up an amazing opportunity for
all emerging string quartets -
an audition on Sunday January 17th 2016 in front of an amazing list of people.
To submit your application, you need to hurry
and send your CV and a recording to the following address before November 12th 2015:
Philharmonie de Paris
221 avenue Jean-Jaurès - F-75019 Paris
There is no registration fee but you
