Entrepreneurial Members of HELLO STAGE - Part I
Meet members with great ideas - or: how one of them can help you to get yourself your debut in two of the most fabulous halls in the world!
When meeting with our members we talk about self-management a lot - wether they have managerial support or if they are out there taking sole control of their careers. Often we are inspired by what some of you do to go from strength to strength and by your amazing initiatives. We would like to explore these activities a little further and talk about them here once in a while.
Hopefully some of the ideas will inspire others and spark even more exiting stuff!
One of the most impressive ventures is
New York Concert Artists
. They understand themselves as a modern-day realization of Robert Schumann’s Davidsbund
, an imagined spiritual fraternity of creative minds.
In 1833 Robert Schumann gathered musicians around him as collaborators, and this circle
of artists shared their opinions and stood against ignorance and arrogance.
NYCA is led by musicians for musicians. All of them strongly belief that the ultimate
artistic decisions in all situations must be made by the artists themselves, for the sake of the integrity of classical music.
Pianist Klara Min
is the selfless driving force behind it all. In April she and her equally
hard working associates hosted a big fundraising gala in New York City to raise the money to be able to expand their activities even more (world-)widely.
On top of being there for each other, bouncing off ideas and problems, NYCA started to contribute to the ever-evolving NYC music
industry in 2008 by starting their own concert series
„Evenings of piano concerti“.
Soon they added a series of masterclasses and a „Noon Recital Series“.
This season they too will add a
„Soirée des Artists“
series which will be on an invite policy only. But their biggest venture so far is that they have been putting on auditions for their own Carnegie Debut Recital Series
since 2011. In the worldwide auditions musicians of great talent are discovered and they are given the opportunity to expose themselves to the audience in the debut series hosted by the association.
For 2016 they are taking their amazing initative even further by not only rewarding
the successful candidate with a Carnegie Hall
debut, but also with a recital in the
Philharmonie in Berlin
, both to take place in the 16/17 season. Auditions are taking place in London, Warsaw, Paris, Düsseldorf, New York and Seoul in front of an acclaimed jury including Piotr Anderszewski, Augustin Dumay, Jon Feidner and Menahem Pressler!
But it is even going up another notch - so far all this had been exclusively for pianists -
this time around Violinists are also invited to take part in the discovery of great talents!
The auditions for them will take place in New York only and their debut concert will take place in the Berlin Philharmonie.
The audition is open to all nationalities, for pianists and violinists up to the age of 35.
The deadline to get you application in is December 1st (plus an extension for late comers to Dec 18)
Get all the details
(and please read them as the above is only a brief summary!!).
We are looking forward to keeping a close eye on the auditions and results.
In the meantime the next debut concert from audition in 2014 is still to happen
in March 2016. Keep up with their concerts on their HELLO STAGE profile and go to Carnegie Hall to hear them!
