Summer Festivals Part XI - Come To Marlboro Country
When I was a kid there were still advertisements
for cigarettes in cinemas - that
particular brand had a catchy cowboy
tune and guys on horseback gathering around the fire at night…
Well truth is, the one and only real Marlboro

quoting the New Yorker Magazine

is much more appropriate!
acclaimed as the world’s foremost center for
leadership training in music. For seven weeks each summer,
exceptional young musicians and master artists come together
to form a closely-knit family on the campus of
Marlboro College in Vermont.
Artistic Director Mitsuko Uchida
her senior artist colleagues and the resident
musicians enjoy this unique opportunity to rehearse

culture and the European ideal.

a chamber music festival in Europe.
I am delighted that a number of my colleagues,
including seniors of Marlboro, are joining me
to make this new European music project possible.“
Please take some time and read more about the history of the
place and it’s significant role on the
We are thrilled to welcome this exceptional group,
