Speed Dating with HELLO STAGE
When we first started talking about HELLO STAGE someone said:
"ah, like a match.com for musicians!"
Well, not quite, but of course there is that purpose of meeting new people on-
and offline via HELLO STAGE...
However, when we do speed dating, you only get to meet...ME
! (already a veteran in the music buisness - have a look at my bio. at the end of this blog.)
Whenever I am spending more time somewhere on my travels,
we get the word out that I am available to meet up with any
of you for a 30 minute time slot.
It doesn't matter if you already have a profile on
HELLO STAGE or if you have indeed not even registered -
it is the perfect opportunity to find out more about what
you can do with your profile and to get an insight on the
features as well as to learn about plans which are still in the
pipeline - remember we only have been online for a year and are still full of ideas for more to come!
But to be honest, what I enjoy most is learning about YOU
and your projects,
talking about your career and helping to answer any questions that you
might have on these occasions, and who knows, I might even know the "perfect match" for you afterwards :)
There is already a long list of musicians who I have already met through speed dating,
for example Marianne Dumas
, right after she moved to
Berlin and started her adventurous journey with the baroque cello and Bach.
It's great to hear all about her thoughts
and to be treated to a little sample of her (recorded) playing.
Our conversation led to the idea of her starting a photo diary
on her page as well as her becoming a HELLO STAGE blogger (looking forward to the first post, stay tuned!)
now that our blog is up and running.
Other Berlin encouters include Cecilia Pillado
who is in the
process of setting up her own label.
Her love for Tango and Latin American composers
reminded me about the cellist Tilly Cernitori
who also has a shares this interest,
and as far as I know, they enjoyed a nice email conversation afterwards.
In London I had a ball gossiping with
and I am very keen to see the new videos that he is about to film soon.
No doubt he will be sharing them with all of us on his page!
Having studied musicology myself, one of the things I enjoy most
is re-discovering forgotten composers and I am grateful to
for introducing me
to the works of Nikolai Medtner.
Only last week in New York I met conductor and composer
Fouad Fakhouri just before he went off to Beirut to
conduct the Lebanese Philharmonic Orchestra,
he is still busy there, so we have to wait a little longer for him
to start working on his HELLO STAGE page.
It was also great to be updated on the busy schedule of violinist
and prize winner of the XIV International Tchaikovsky Competition,
Eric Silberger, who's page is still under construction, but I am desperately waiting to see his upcoming dates
as I would love to go and hear the premiere of the
Violin Concerto he wrote for himself, but I fear it is too far away…well, then I will just have to sneak into his rehearsals in Berlin with the Konzerthausorchester
before they head off to Spain together I guess...
As I am curious to meet more members of the HELLO STAGE family,
come and see me in London on Friday, February 13th between 10.00-14.00h
near the Royal Festival Hall.
Please drop me an email on: firstname.lastname@example.org
, so we can set your time slot -
as an alternative, watch out for dates in March in Berlin!
Very much looking forward to meeting you in person very soon!
P.S. In case you are passing through Vienna,
you can drop us a line anytime - this is how we met a few of you as well!
Or grab me if we happen to be at the same concert or conference, like
Ivan Enrique Rodriguez
It was such a pleasure to learn that he had been in touch with the La Paz Philharmonic
via our messages...I wonder what ideas they are cooking up together...
