About

Welcome to my HELLO STAGE Artist Profile.

I'm an Australian/Italian Coloratura Mezzo, and a Studio Young Artist and Gertrude Johnson Fellow at Gertude Opera. I also studied at the Royal College of Music and Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

I feel blessed to be able to make a living doing what I love, and I am honored that you are here to join me. Current projects are based predominantly in Australia, the UK and Europe; but I'll soon be adding the USA to the list of places I call home, when I take up a Young Artist Residency in Florida this September 2016.

My passions are Chamber Music, Art Song and Opera; discovering music, and working closely with composers and collaborating on projects with dancers, circus artists and musicians from other genres.

2007-05-24 Camden New Journal [Newspaper & Online], Highgate
"The performances by Allegra Giagu were utterly charming. We can all enjoy Auden's poetry by reading it. There are fewer occasions to enjoy it by hearing it sung so beautifully."

"...Allegra Giagu as the Countess owned the audience. There was an inky pavonine complexity to the soprano's vocals that tapped into the same vein of genuine emotion as her leading couple. A potent and complex chemistry that transcended the boundaries of the concert performance into something very real and vital."

"

"Somehow I knew I was put on this planet to be an opera singer. Whether or not that came about, I knew that I would never be satisfied without trying" she says knowingly.

Utterly charming, effervescent and enormously talented, Giagu is an engaging presence on stage.
