Victor Baez


Born in Mexico City, Víctor Báez's works have been performed in concerts and premieres in several cities in North and South America and Europe, such as Klangspuren Schwaz, Komponisten Marathon Vienna and the International Forum for New Music in Mexico City. His work is broadcasted regularly by the Mexican and Austrian radio (Ö1, Radio Orange).

Past and present collaborators include Robert Gillinger (principal Bassoon at the Vienna Symphonic Orchestra), Ensemble LUX, Ensemble Platypus, Sarah Watts, Ensamble 3 (Mexico), Ensamble Onix (Mexico), among others. 

Prizes and awards include 3 consecutive yearly composition grants from the Austrian Ministry of Arts, Culture and Education (BMUKK 2010-2012), a START Grant for New Young Artists (BMUKK, 2013), and the Fulbright Scholarship for his oncoming doctoral studies, starting in the Fall of 2014 in New York City. 

Also active in the field of film music: Participation in the soundtrack production of the Mexican film "Chicogrande" (2010), from master director Felipe Cazals. "Chicogrande" was the Opening Selection for the 58th edition of the international film festival San Sebastián-Donostia, and was also selected for participation at the film festivals of La Habana, Biarritz, Vermont, Dubai, and others. In 2012 he wrote the soundtrack for Cazals' latest film "Ciudadano Buelna", which premiered at the 2013 edition of the Guadalajara International Film Festival, and is currently touring the international festival circuit.
