Vera Karner is a young clarinetist from austria.
In 2016 she won the Fanny Mendelssohn Förderpreis (Germany) and produced the album "Gassenhauer/Gassenbauer" (Berlin Classics, Edel AG) together with double bass player Dominik Wagner and pianist Aurelia Visovan featuring Matthias Schorn (principal clarinet Vienna Philharmonics).
Vera Karner played Solo Concertos with Philharmonic Orchestra of state opera Varna, Philharmonic Orchestra of state opera Stara Zagora (Bulgaria), Chelsea Music Festival Orchestra (New York), Orchestra Andres Bello (Santiago de Chile) Camerata Musica Hungarica (Wiener Konzerthaus), Polish Chamber Orchestra Sopot (Germany) and others. In 2016 she played New York's premiere of Michael Gandolfi's Clarinet Concerto "Nature of Light" (Conductor: Ken Masur)
Vera Karner won many prizes, for example the Lions Musikpreis 2015, 2. prize Competition Citta di Chieri (Italy), Musica Juventutis, Ad Infinitum Foundation (Germany).
Vera Karner performed in Wiener Musikverein, Wiener Konzerthaus, Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Schleswig-Holstein Musikfestival, Chelsea Music Festival (New York), Festival Österreichische Musikwochen (Bulgaria).
She was recorded for Ö1, WDR, MDR and others and played as a substitute musician in the orchestra of Wiener Symphoniker and Vienna State Opera stage orchestra.
At the moment, Vera does her Bachelor studies with Francois Benda (UDK Berlin) and Alexander Neubauer (MUK Wien). Previous studies with Reiner Wehle (MHL Lübeck), Peter Schmidl and Stefan Neubauer (MDW Wien) and masterclasses with Matthias Schorn, Yehuda Gilad, Sharon Kam, Sabine Meyer, Shilrey Brill, Irvin Venys, Jiri Hlavac, Michel Lethiec, Eduard Brunner and others.
