Valentina Mattiussi

Valentina Mattiussi is an Italian violinist.
Lukas Hagen sees in her “a great capacity for musical imagination”, and she is regularly appreciated for her great musical sensibility and expressiveness.

From her past experience in competitive athletics, she has learned the values of tenacity, commitment and perseverance, as well as flexibility and hard team work towards goal. All of these qualities can also be found in her great passion for chamber music, “where her incredible talent is especially honed".

She is highly curious and enthusiastic about historical musical practice, having taken up the study of the Baroque violin.
One of her main interests is in-depth research into the works of female composers, with a repertoire ranging from the Renaissance to present day.

In June of 2017, she played Beethoven’s “Ghosts” op. 70, 1 piano trio at the “Trame Sonore” Festival in Mantua. In June 2018 she will perform at the same Festival the Schumann's Piano Quartet op. 47. She has participated in other festivals with other musical ensembles, including, among others, Ljubljana Festival (LIO 2017), Diabelli Sommer Mattsee (2017), Sankt Gellert Szeged Festival (2015) and Mittelfest in Cividale (2013).

In the summer of 2016, she took part in the first edition of the “Retreat for Musicians,” an idea promoted by Nora Romanoff-Schwarzberg and Andrej Grilc. Here, along with yoga and meditation lessons, various concerts were held with musicians such as Florian Willeitner, Nora Romanoff- Schwarzberg, Aljaz Begus, Ziga Faganel and Alja Mandic.

In the fall of the same year, she organized a concert at Palazzo Tadea - Castello di Spilimbergo, whereby she played a series of romantic sonatas for violin and piano, with pianist Tullio Garbari.

She is convinced of the social and societal importance of music, alongside all other forms of art (from poetry to figurative art). Therefore she visits regularly local young children social organizations, such as Casa Nanni in Italy, where she helps holding development session using the power of music language.

She currently studies at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg in the class of Prof. Lukas Hagen, under whom she completed her Bachelor’s degree in November 2016 with the highest marks and honours. During the university career so far, her studies with Benjamin Schmid, Enrico Bronzi, Cordelia Höfer-Teutsch, Hiro Kurosaki and Marco Testori have had a great impact on her musical training.

In November 2016, she was also accepted to the renowned training programme for chamber music at the Accademia Santa Cecilia in Rome. Through the Academy, she has been able to play in a variety of concerts in various areas of cultural interest in Italy (for example, the Accademia di Spagna in 2017).

Valentina plays regularly with various orchestras and chamber music groups (both modern and Baroque) in Italy and abroad. These include SFK Orchestra in Klagenfurt, “Musicacosì” Association in Salzburg, “Sandor Vegh Institut Kammerorchester” in Austria, “Wiener Sinfonietta” (China Tour in 2013) Orchestra, under directors such as Hans Graf, Josef Wallnig, Wolfgang Redik, Peter Gülke, Henrich Schiff, Carlo Rizzari, Florian Bisrak-Hayer and Marco Testori.

Until 2014, she was the concertmaster of the Orchestra Giovanile Academia Symphonica under M. Pierangelo Pelucchi in Italy.

Since 2018 she is member of the "Accademia Teatro alla Scala" Orchestra.

She has furthered her pedagogic studies under Prof. Veronica Kröner, who, July 2016, invited Valentina to be her assistant for the "Arcolino Strings Camp" course in Langschlag, Austria.

She has been a scholarship holder based on merit, given by the Mozarteum University of Salzburg since October 2016.
She currently plays a violin made by Gabriel Lemböck in Vienna in 1873.
