Umut Kosman started his musical career at the age of eight, studying classical guitar at Bilkent University Faculty of Music and Performing Arts. He continued his undergraduate education in the Opera-Singing Department of the same faculty and obtained his bachelor's degree with honors.
Umut Kosman was awarded honorable mention in the 5th Young Voices competition held in 2005. He studied under Stella Silva at the Benedetto Marcello Conservatory in Venice. He took the second place in the 15th Siemens Opera Competition in 2013 and won a six-week scholarship at the Mozarteum Music Academy, Salzburg, Austria. In this academy, he had the opportunity to collaborate with Tom Krause, Alessandra Althoff and James Vaughan and to work privately with Luca Pisaroni.
He performed in the "Young Talents Concert" in the Salzburg festival held in August 2013. He also took the second place in Buffo Aria Competition at the Mozarteum Academy.
After his performance in the concert version of La Boheme staged by Bilkent Symphony, Umut Kosman sang the title role "Don Giovanni" in Mozart's Don Giovanni staged by Antalya State Opera and Ballet. He gave recitals in Bilkent Concert Hall , Mozarthaus Ankara and Cer-Modern concert halls. He worked as a soloist in Carmen, Rigoletto, La Cambiale di Matrimonio, Viva la Mamma and La Boheme operas.
In 2014-2015 season , he sang the role "Schaunard" in Puccini's La Boheme and "Don Geronio" in Rossini's Il Turco in Italia at Antalya State Opera. Same season , He sang the role "Sir Riccardo Forth" in Bellini's I Puritani staged by Ankara State Opera and Ballet.
Umut Kosman has been working at Ankara State Opera and Ballet as a guest artist-Freelance artist since 2008.
