biography

Senem was born in Ankara in 1987. When she was 8 years old, she started her music life with TRT Istanbul Children Choir. In 1998, she was accepted to the "Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University State Conservatory" where she stepped into her Piano education with lecturer Miss. Hülya Ardıç.


In 2006, after graduating from Piano department Senem continued her music education again at "Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University State Conservatory" Opera department under the direction of her voice teacher Miss. Payam Koryak.


She attended the masterclass of Countertenor Prof. Kai Wessel in 2008 and the masterclass of Soprano Amelia Felle during 2010 and 2011.


Senem won the first prize in a competition of "International European Young Virtuoso's", which took place in Sofia in 2009. The same year, she performed the role of "La Ciesca" from G.Puccini's opera "Gianni Schicchi", conducted by Erdem Çöloğlu and staged by Yekta Kara at Istanbul Sureyya Opera House. In 2011, she performed the role of  "Cherubino" from W.A.Mozart's opera "Le Nozze di Figaro", staged by Yekta Kara at Istanbul Sureyya Opera Hause.


She performed in the premiere of Turkish pianist and composer Fazıl Say's op.40 ''SES'' in Ankara, Turkey in 2012.


Senem currently works under the lecturer Miss. Payam Koryak to complete her final courses to be licensed as a voice major in opera.


She was admitted to "Universitat für Musik und darstellende Kunst Graz"  in September 2012, and became the student of Prof. Ulf Bästlein. She attended the masterclasses by Angelika Kirchschlager and Aulikki Eerola during November of the same year.


Again in 2012, Senem assumed the role of "Maman, La Tasse Chinoise and La Libellule" at the opera of M.Ravel'in" L'Enfant et les Sortileges ", conducted by Prof. Frank Cramer and staged by Prof. Barbara Bayer, which was produced by opera studio "Universitat für Musik und darstellende Kunst Graz", in December.


She was auditioned to perform the role of "Frau Reich" at the opera of "Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor" by Otto Nicolai, conducted by Prof. Frank Cramer and staged by Christian Poewe.   "Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor" which is a production of opera studio by "Universitat für Musik und darstellende Kunst Graz" was staged in June 2013.


At the opera of "Le Convenienze ed Inconvenienze Teatrali" by Gaetano Donizetti, staged in December 2013, Senem performed the role of "Dorotea". "Le Convenienze ed Inconvenienze Teatrali" was produced by opera studio "Universitat für Musik und darstellende Kunst Graz", and conducted by Prof. Frank Cramer and staged by Christian Poewe.


In March 2014, Senem assumed the role of "Scitalce" and demonstrated her voice in J.A. Hasse's opera piece "La Semiramide Riconosciuta", staged in Leipzig, Germany during the Alte Musik Fest under the musical direction of Susanne Scholz, where baroque gestures were prepared by Sigrid T'Hooff.


Senem participated and voiced a number of pieces in the "Gezi Park" concert held in Wolkstheater in Vienna on 30 May 2014 together with pianist and composer Fazil Say, pianists Ferhan & Ferzan Onder and percussionist Martin Grubinger.


During the 2014-2015 season, Senem made her debut in Graz Oper, where she performed the role of "Tyrannia Vamperl" at the opera of "der Satanarchäolügenialkohöllische Wunschpunsch" composed by Elisabeth Naske, and adapted from Michael Ende's book with the same title. The piece was staged by Dominique Mentha and conducted by Frank Cramer.


In 2014, Senem also performed a song in the album titled "Anka" (Phoenix), fully consisting of pieces composed on the lyrics (poems) of the late Turkish poet Metin Altinok.
