Philharmonic String Quintet Berlin

The Quintessence of the Berlin Philharmonic – Russian master cellist Tatjana Vassiljeva is joined by double bass player and conductor Nabil Shehata, the leader of the 2nd violins of the Berlin Philharmonic Thomas Timm, and by Romano Tommasini and Wolfgang Talirz. The Philharmonic String Quintet Berlin is unique in that the addition of the double bass allows them to act like a one-to-a-part string orchestra.
The ensemble crosses the boundaries between pure chamber music and symphonic dimensions. At its many concerts throughout Europe, Japan and China the Philharmonic String Quintet Berlin plays original works as well as arrangements for string orchestras. The pieces gain tremendously in delicacy and liberty, without losing their richness of sound.
