NSPIRING CONCERT GIVEN BY THE THÜRINGEN PHILHARMONIE IN THE GOTHAER KULTURHAUS
It was just as in real life- the waking of nature could be sensed from all directions. Each work in this concert of the Thüringen Philharmonie breathed out 'joie de vivre' and blossoming in music.
...... Ralph Vaughan Williams' 'The Lark Ascending' is a showpiece of a special kind. On his violin, and with great sensitivity, the English soloist Peter Fisher enabled the lark to soar above the landscapes of his native country.
At the same time the Thüringen Philharmonie provided him with a spacious 'foundation' (backdrop), like a valley, over which the most contrasting ideas and impressions could spread themselves. The work ended just as it had begun, with the tender, whirring sound of the solo instrument. Through their enthusiastic applause, the audience demonstrated their gratitude to Fisher for the grandiose and 'onomatopoeic' impression left upon them. He returned the kindness with a performance of Fritz Kreisler's 'Recitative and Scherzo Caprice' in which he was once again able to prove his skill on the violin.""
