Mathis Nitschke works as a composer and sound designer. He studied music composition, but avoided the usual path of young composers. Instead of grants and competitions he gained for recognition and success in the contemporary applied music environment.
He works for ambitious theatre and film projects as well as for ad agencies and corporations. Close cooperations with artist personalities like Michel Houellebecq or Luk Perceval shaped his artistic work. He percieves the gap between independent artistic work and applied target-orientated services as both difficult and productive: in this opposition he feels more close to what he percieves as a feeling of society as a whole.
Since his opera JETZT, which was premiered 2012 in Montpellier, his independent work is in focus. Currently he works on his next opera HAPPY HAPPY, which will be premiered 19 Novembre 2014 in Montpellier.
