German-Brazilian tenor Martin Muehle was born in Porto Alegre and studied at the Musikhochschule Lübeck, Germany. In addition, he studied with Carlo Bergonzi at the Accademia Verdiana in Busseto and with Alfredo Kraus in Santander (Spain).
Recently he was highly successful as Radames at the St. Margarethen Opera Festival in a NP of Aida, directed by Robert Dornhelm (incl. TV and DVD release.), as Don José at Theater St. Gallen and as Hagenbach in La Wally at Nationaltheater Mannheim, where he will also be heard as Calaf, Faust (NP La Damnation de Faust) and Fritz (NP Der ferne Klang).
Plans include Des Grieux in a new production of Puccini's Manon Lescaut in Sao Paolo, Don José in a revival of Stefan Herheims production of Carmen at Oper Graz and his debut in the title part of a new production of Lohengrin at Theater St. Gallen.
Since the 2013/14 season Martin Muehle has been a member of the National Theatre Mannheim, where he had big success as Gabriele Adorno in Simon Boccanegra, Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, Don José in Carmen and in the title part in a new production of Verdi's Stiffelio. In the same season he enjoyed great success as Arrigo in I Vespri Siciliani at Theater Freiburg/Germany.
Recently he had huge success as Alfonso in Korngold's Violanta and Guido Bardi in Zemlinsky's Die florentinische Tragödie in São Paulo, Siegmund in Wagner's Die Walküre at the Theater Detmold and in a concert with the Croatian Radio Symphony Orchestra and Chorus in Zagreb (including live transmission in radio and on internet) with parts of Wagner's Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg (Stolzing) and Boito's Mefistofele (Faust) and as Paolo Il Bello in Zandonai's Francesca da Rimini (including CD production for Naxos).
In concert fields, Martin Muehle focuses on the repertoire of the Romantic period. He sang, amongst others, Gounod's Messe Solennelle de St. Cecillie at the Theatro Municipal in São Paulo and Beethoven's 9th Symphony at the Cathedral of Porto Alegre. Furthermore he performed Beethoven's 9th Symphony at the distinguished Palácio das Artes in Belo Horizonte as well as Gustav Mahler´s Das Lied von der Erde under Ira Levin at the Teatro Nacional in Brasilia. Recently he had huge sucess with Mahlers Lied von der Erde as well under Dan Ettinger in Mannheim and Ludwigsburg.
His plans on the concert stage include his debut at the Berliner Philharmonie with Verdis Requiem under the baton of Simon Halsey.
