Marina Vesic


Ms.Vesic has graduated at The University of Music and Performing Arts in Belgrade, Serbia- Department for Composition and Orchestration and got a Master degree. Post graduate studies she finished at The University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna, Austria, Institut ELAK, for Composition and electroacoustic music (2 semesters) in class of Prof.Dr.Kalrheinz Essl.
 From a very early age, Vesic demonstrated a natural gift for music and the performing arts. As a youth, she became proficient in piano composition and performance. She achieved a number of awards, including First Place at the International Competition for Young Composers in Belgrade, Serbia in 1997. Her works have been performed on many stages, in both classical and sacred music venues. In Belgrade, she had two important premieres in collaboration with the Church Transfiguration from Belgrade, with the compositions The Prayer- for soprano and mixed choir and Svetilan- for mixed choir. Also, her music is performing at Belgrade National Radio Station, as well as USA radio shows What’s Next on WGDR/WGDH, Vermount. Her music is also broadcasting on UK radios, Globegig Radio (show Wired), and a radio premiere she had on BBC – Tees with Bob Fisher (18.07.2015.) in collaboration piece with MicrochipJunky.

Vesic has written compositions across a wide range of musical styles, including contemporary classical music, electroacoustic, sacred music, ambient, and hard rock. Her diverse musical talents came to the attention of Professor Dr. Karlheinz Essl of The Institut for Composition. This is the only school of higher learning in Europe focused on research in the composition and learning of electronic music. Vesic accepted an offer to join them for the 2011/2012 school year. Thus far she is the only Serbian woman to receive an advanced education at this Institut.
During this course of specialized study at The Institut for Composition in Vienna, Vesic presented many of her compositions in concerts. At the STEIM Institut in Amsterdam Holland (2012), she performed the world premiere of her electronic composition Major Tom together with ELAK (Vienna) class under the guidance of Professor Wolfgang Musil.

She has successfully completed her specialized studies (June 2012) in experimental and electro-acoustic music at The University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, Institut for Composition and electroacousic music, in the class of Professor Dr. Karlheinz Essl, applied music (film, tv, music production). She has also completed courses in Music and Computer together with Professor Mag. Johannes Kretz, and electronic music with Professor Wolfgang Musil. She had also attended lectures from Austrian composer Katharina Klement.

Vesic is active as a pianist and multimedia performer as well. She collaborates with artists from around the world. Her active collaborations include composers/ performers from Austria, England, Indonesia, France, Croatia, USA, Australia, Portugal, Denmark…etc.

She is a member of Internationale Gesellschaft für neue Musik IGNM/ ISCM/ SIMC, Österreich.

Currently Miss Vesic is engaged in PhD studies at The University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna, Austria, department for  popular music, exploring the music scene in the USA and Serbia with several upcoming interviews with composers.

She lives and work on relation Belgrade (SRB) – Vienna (AUS).
