The young Estonian soprano Katrin Targo started her musical career as a pianist already at the age of 5. In 1998, after having won the 1st Prize at the Tartu National Young Pianists' Competition in 1995, she finished the Tallinn Music High School as a Concert Pianist and a Piano Teacher.
Katrin continued her studies at first as a pianist, then majoring in opera singing from her sophomore year in the Estonian Music Academy, graduating with her Bachelor of Arts Diploma in 2004 and 1st Master of Arts in 2007. Thereafter she continued her studies in Vienna, in the University for Music and Performing Arts Vienna (singing class of Prof. Claudia Visca; Opera Studio), which she graduated from with her 2nd Master of Arts in 2012.
Katrin is a Prizewinner of several singing competitions, of which the last are: Imrich Godin International Singing Competition (Vrable, Slovakia 2014), and Antonín Dvořák Singing Competition (Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic, 2014), where she was awarded 5 Prizes.
Katrin is an awaited concert soloist in Vienna and elsewhere in Europe, singing as an Oratorio soloist, and giving Lied-recitals.
Katrin's opera repertoire includes the Roles of Pamina, Donna Elvira, Giulietta, Tatyana etc. In the coming season she will be performing next to the Concert House of Vienna in the Theatres of Ostrava and Plzen in Czech Republic.
