Katja Beer

Katja Beer studied opera, acting and dance at the Hamburger Musikhochschule. As holder of a scholarship she continued her education afterwards in New York. In various master classes with Galina Wisnevskaja, Ileana Cotrubas, Marianne and Harry Kupfer a. o. she refined her Slavic and German repertoire. Since that time she is working internationally as an opera- and concert singer. Her repertoire includes all main parts of the jugendlich-dramatische Fach. She is experienced in contemporary music and has performed as well as recorded several world premieres such as the title role of "Kirisk" by Magret Wolf. Since 2011 she included the roles of the hochdramatische Fach in her repertoire.
In summer, 1997 she gave her debut at the Komische Oper Berlin where she could be heard since as a guest in several productions. 2004 she debuted as Rosalinde ("Die Fledermaus") and Senta ("The flying Dutchman") at the opera-houses of Dresden and Riga. Another engagement as Senta led her to the Teatro Municipal in Santiago de Chile. In 2006 Katja Beer debuted in the role of Elsa ("Lohengrin") with the DSO Berlin, conducted by Kent Nagano. Other roles such as Salome, Elisabeth ("Tannhäuser") and Judith in "BluebeardŽs Castle" by Bartók followed. 2007 she sang the internationally broadcasted opening anthem of the handball world championship in Berlin.
Katja Beer debuted August 2012 as Isolde in La Plata/Argentina conducted by Alejo Perez. She is a frequent guest at the operahouses of Hannover and Leipzig performing in "Greek", "Hansel and Gretel", "Le nozze di Figaro" and "Deutsches Miserere". In concerts and recitals she can be heard regularly in the Wiener Konzerthalle, the Philharmonie Berlin, the Liederhalle Dusseldorf and Stuttgart, often with the program "Schubert and Yiddish songs" which she recorded with the Klezmer clarinetist Giora Feidman.
