Karim Shehata got his first piano lessons with Irmgard Heintzmann, piano teacher at the Musikschule des Landkreises Verden. He had his first performance in public at the age of 9.
He participated at the national german piano competition Jugend musiziert both as soloist and as accompaniment and won twelve first prices. He had his orchestral piano concert debut with the Achimer Musikschulorchester.
Karim Shehata completed a piano education study at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover with Prof. Martin Dörrie and Prof. Einar Steen-Nøkleberg. Later on he studied for 2-3 years in a private master class with Andrej Hoteev. He then completed a piano performance study at Hochschule für Künste Bremen with Prof. Kurt Seibert and Prof. Hubert Rutkowski. Among others he visited masterclasses with Prof. Volker Banfield and Prof. David Wilde.
Besides the main soloist activity as pianist he works in different chamber music projects. He took part at the Kammermusikwoche junger Künstler with concerts in Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein which then won the Stark-Preis Schleswig-Holstein in 2004. He also regularly accompanies his brother Nabil Shehata, Prof. at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Munich. At the Reger Forum 2011 he performed together with the singer Johanna Krödel. Besides this he also worked as a piano accompanist at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover.
