Jure Knez

Jure Knez (24.01.1995) started playing the saxophone at Music School Radeče (Slovenia) by Ms Neva Marn. Between 2010 and 2014 he was studying at the Conservatory of Music and Ballet Ljubljana by Prof. Lev Pupis. He is currently studying at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich by Koryun Asatryan. He is regularly attending various seminars and masterclasses for saxophone by internationally recognised performers and teachers such as Jean-Marie Londeix, Arno Bornkamp, Daniel Gauthier, Jean-Yves Formeau.

He has successfully attended many national as well as international competitions. In 2010 he received gold award, at both regional and national competition TEMISG (Slovenia) and was given the »best interpretation of the set work« award. In the years 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2013 he received first prize at International competition Davorin Jenko (Belgrade, Serbia). In 2013, at the 2nd international competition for young woodwind players »Emona« (Slovenia), he received a golden diploma.

He is also active as a soloist, participating in various projects ("Zum 200. Geburtstag von Adolphe Sax – Auf den Spuren eines Visionärs"; "Splitter und Gedächtnis", "Zwischen Orient und Okzident"). He performed with the Munich percussion and string orchestra in Reaktorhalle Munich, Cairo Opera House and in Sayed Darwish Theater in Alexandria (Egypt).
