Hardy Rittner counts both among the pioneers in the field of historical performance practice of the 19th century as well as to a new pianist generation, that simultaneously values the modern grand piano and can be heard with repertoire to contemporary music. For the MDG label in Detmold he is recording the entire solo piano works of Johannes Brahms for the first time on original instruments of the time (to date 4 of 5 volumes published). Furthermore, his discography includes a live recording of the first piano concerto by Brahms with the historically informed orchestra l'arte del mondo, all Chopin Etudes and the piano works of Arnold Schoenberg. Concerts have taken him to the USA, Canada, South Korea and Taiwan as well as to almost every country in Europe. Hardy Rittner is twotime winner of the Echo Klassik.
