About
Alev Gokce Erem was born on August 4, 1983 in Istanbul, Turkey. She developed a strong interest in music at a very early age when she started to learn the piano.

After finishing primary school in 1994, Gokce continued her studies at the I.T.U. Turkish Music State Conservatory. The following year, she auditioned to study classical music at the Istanbul University State Conservatory and she was accepted to Prof. Venyamin Warshavsky's class to play the violin.

In September 1999, Gokce attended master classes at the International Music Academy of Ayvalık and she had a chance to perform with Prof. Lukas David and Suna Kan. In 2001, she took master classes in Schloss Kröchlendorf, Germany where she worked with Bela Papp and Prof. Ulrike Anima Mathe. Meanwhile, she participated in various concerts.

Gokce graduated from the Istanbul University of State Conservatory in 2007 with an honor degree. She still continues to study and practice violin with Venyamin Varsavsky and gives concerts with the various continuity of orchestras such as Cemal Resit Rey Symphony Orchestra, Istanbul Chamber Orchestra, the Philharmonia Orchestra, the National Reinsurance Chamber Orchestra, Sisli Municipality Symphony Orchestra, the Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra, the Akbank Chamber Orchestra, Maltepe Municipality Symphony Orchestra and the Orkestrasion Chamber Orchestra.

Gokce had opportunity to work with the orchestras which led by Sascha Goetzel, Rengim Gökmen, Alexander Rahbari, Peter Gülke,Ibrahim Yazıcı, Cem Mansur, Gürer Aykal, Naci Ozguc, Michel Tabachnik, Nezih Seckin, Hakan Sensoy, Erol Erdinc, Emin Guven Yaslicam,Ingo Metzmacher and Vladimir Fedoseyev.

After a successful audition at the Mediterranean Youth Orchestra's examination in 2006, she participated in one month long tour in Nice, France with the orchestra in July 2007. Along with famous conductors such as Jean-François Heisser, Phillippe Bender she also had an opportunity to accompany famous soloists like Laurent Korcia, Pierre Amoyal, and Thiery Amadi during the tour.

Gokce is still a member of the RIAS Youth Orchestra, which she participated in the summer of 2008

Passing Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra's (GMJO) audition in December 2008, she participated in its tour in April 2009 where she had a great chance playing and meeting with great musicians, conductors and touring the Europe for one month.

Same year, in July, she played for the International Orchestra Institut Attergau's (IOIA), which is under the patronage of Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in co-operation with the institute of Wiener Klangstill in Salzburg.

Since July 2009, Gokce has been receiving invites from the IOIA orchestra and giving various concerts in Salzburg and Attersee.

Gökçe has been continuing to work as a violinist at the Istanbul State Modern Folk Music Ensemble since December 2007. She also received her Master of Music Degree from Venyamin Varsavsky's violin class with an honor at the Istanbul University of State Conservatory in June 2011.

As a current resident of New York, Gokce continues her studies at NYU-Steinhardt with a scholarship in performance program for the Advanced Certificate Diploma. She gives concerts with NYU Steinhardt Orchestra as the concertmaster(2013-present), One World Symphony (As Principal 2.Violin) , the Chelsea Symphony Orchestra,Kamerata NY and Staten Island Philharmonic Orchestra. She has performed with the Tony award winning singer John Lloyd Young, who is also the main character from the musical Jersey Boys, at Café Carlyle where she played in a series of concerts with a very important musician and producer Tommy Faragher. She also plays in chamber music groups with the most talented musicians in NYC.
She is currently getting ready for violin competitions and auditions around NYC. Since she has moved to NYC she has started to work with Alexander Markov,a world famous violinist virtuoso who is also living in NYC.

Since May 2013 Gokce is the assistant music director of World Peace Orchestra,founded in New York in 2013.The World Peace Orchestra is a unique nonprofit organization that encourages the growth of budding musical talent in youth from around the world. WPO celebrates the unity and diversity of global culture through our annual concert featuring over 134 young musicians from 50 countries playing both ethnic and classical instruments.

Gokce speaks German and English fluently.
