German Soprano Désirée Brodka is known as a versatile singer who handles opera, oratorio and musical theatre repertoire alike with remarkable aplomb.
This season, she made her debut at Stadttheater Gießen in the modern premiere of the operetta Die oberen Zehntausend (Gustave Kerker) in the lead role of Prinzessin Fifi.
She toured as Aloysia Weber in Mozart in Paris (directed by Christof Loy), making her debuts at Staatstheater Stuttgart, the Schauspielhaus Hamburg, the Deutsche Oper am Rhein Düsseldorf & Duisburg and at the Wiener Festwochen.
Miss Brodka was the first German opera singer to be granted the prestigious Fulbright Scholarship. She also won the Merit Award at Oberlin Conservatory, a Wagner scholarship and multiple prizes at both opera and musical theatre competitions. Her activities in contemporary music with the Helios-Ensemble have been awarded by the city of Cologne.
She received her Artist Diploma studying with Richard Miller at the Oberlin Conservatory, USA. She also studied Vocal Performance with Michaela Krämer, sang in masterclasses with Matthias Görne, and completed her postgraduate studies in Chamber Music with honors at Robert-Schumann-Hochschule Düsseldorf.
Miss Brodka has performed as a soloist with the Neue Philharmonie Westfalen, the Baden-Baden-Philharmonics, the Bergische Symphoniker, the National Romanian Philharmonics and the WDR Radio Orchestra.
The young soprano also made important debuts at the Marlboro Music Festival in Vermont, the Ascoli-Piceno-Festival in Italy, the International Festival in Bergen Norway, the University of Ulsan in Korea, and in Kuwait by the Kuwait Chamber Philharmonia.
She participated in masterclasses and private studies with renowned artists such as Reinhard Becker, Grace Bumbry, Noelle Turner, Benita Valente, Edith Wiens, Agnes Giebel, Ernst Haefliger, Siegfried Jerusalem, Leonard Hokanson and deepened her studies in Baroque Music with Jeffrey Gall and Lisa Crawford.
Her dance education comprises 10 years of ballet, modern dance at Oberlin College as well as classes in flamenco and oriental dance.
Miss Brodka studied Cultural Management in Vienna and is the co-founder of "Oh!pera" which offers a platform to young Singers and Conductors with exciting opera productions in and around Vienna.
