Soprano Birgit Beer loves the direct contact with her audience. Therefore it comes as no surprise that she enjoys the smaller intimate venues as much as the big stages. Together with her own ensemble, which ranges from small to large, she is programming evenings from Belcanto to Broadway, from Opera, Operetta to Musical.

In her Soirees she too is presenting the Heroines she is embodying on the opera stages all over Europe and South America: La Traviata, Gräfin Gabriele (Wiener Blut), the first Flowermaiden and first Rheinmaiden, Valencienne (The Merry Widow), Lucia di Lammermoor and Ännchen (Freischütz), Alice Ford (Falstaff), La Wally, Fiordeligi, Rusalka and Butterfly.

She performed at the Arena di Verona, the Staats- and Volksoper Vienna, Prague, Copenhagen, the Easter as well as the Summer Festival in Salzburg, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Semperoper Dresden, Leipzig, the Bayerischen Staatsoper and the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich, Hamburg, Düsseldorf, Köln, Antwerp, Amsterdam, Liege, São Paulo, Costa Rica, Cagliari und Edmonton under the baton of conductors like Sir Georg Solti, Roberto Abbado, Heinrich Hollreiser, Michael Schoenwand, Renato Palumbo, Stefan Soltesz, Ralf Weikert and Dennis Russell Davies.

Birgit has been an ensemble member at the Oper Bonn at the time of Gian Carlo del Monaco where she was entrusted with all major lyric coloratura roles like Lisette (La Rondine) in the highly acclaimed production of Marta Domingo as well as Sophie in Götz Friedrich’s prizewinning „Rosenkavalier“. In the 1997/98 season she joined the Aalto Theater in Essen, singing Fiakermilli (Arabella), Musette (La Bohème), Marzelline (Fidelio) as well as Constance (Les Dialogues des Carmelites). Other important roles include Pamina, Constanze and Blonde, Olympia, Zerbinetta, Adele (Fledermaus) und Lauretta (Gianni Schicchi).

Her rich discography includes Wagner’s „Die Feen“, Strauss’ „Frau ohne Schatten“, Mozart’s „Magic Flute“ und Haydn’s „Creation“ as well as an album with the conductor Anton Guadago. She regularly appeared in German Television in Shows like „Heimat in der Ferne“ with Dagmar Berghoff, „Lieben Sie Klassik?“ with Justus Frantz, Karl Heinz Böhm’s Charity Gala „Menschen für Menschen“ and an UNICEFgala hosted by Placido Domingo filmed in Vienna.

Born in Lübeck, Birgit grew up in Vienna where she first studied art before joining the class of Renate Holm and afterwards Hanna Ludwig. She is living in London where she devotes a lot of time on her concerts for Rotary and several charity organisations.
