biography
Bernhard Philipp Eder, born & raised in Vienna, Austria, has devoted his life to the arts of music from a very early age, when he began taking piano lessons & visiting classical concerts.
At the age of 15, while studying at the Musikgymnasium Wien Neustiftgasse & Konservatorium Wien University (organ), he made the decision to become a composer & conductor.
After High School graduation 2004 he spent his obligatory military time as pianist & arranger at the Military Music Department Vienna.

From 2005 till 2013 he studied composition with Martin Lichtfuss, Reinhard Karger & Michael Jarrell at the University of Music & Performing Arts, Vienna – also studying orchestration with Ertugrul Sevsay - and received his masters degree in January 2013.
In 2006 he won the 1st prize of the "Salieri Today" international composing competition.
June 2014 he was invited as guest composer to the ensemble mise-en new music festival in New York City.

2009-2015 he also studied orchestral conducting at the Music University Vienna with Uros Lajovic & Simeon Pironkoff, since 2013 also with Johannes Wildner.
He attended conducting masterclasses with Bertrand de Billy, Fabio Luisi, Johannes Wildner & a workshop with Naoki Sugiyama in Estonia.
He has conducted orchestras like the ORF Radiosymphonie Orchester Wien, Sinfonietta dell' Arte (Vienna), Pro Arte Orchester (Vienna), Klaspärlimäng Sinfonietta (Estonia) and the tonzauber Studio Orchestra.
In 2013 Eder organised & conducted his own orchestral & vocal ensemble for the recording of his first feature film score „Nostromo" (an Austrian independent production), and additionally worked on several other recording projects - both classical and filmmusic - with this ensemble.

He regularly participated at the Hollywood Music Workshop in Lower Austria, with renowned film scoring professionals Bruce Broughton, Blake Neely & Conrad Pope. Additionally he has conducted several of the workshops recording sessions there in 2012 & 2013.
Also he participated at choir conducting workshops (while still attending highschool)
with Ingrun Fussenegger and Erwin Ortner from 2002-2005 in South Tyrol.

Eder also works as a freelance arranger/orchestrator for prominent arts organisations such as Hollywood in Vienna, City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra London, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra & exil arte.
His arrangements are being performed worldwide by renowned orchestras and performers.

Bernhard has commissions for compositions by the Ensembles Platypus, conflusio, Anna Junge Klänge, Reconsil, tonzauber Studios, and many more.
