Amira Elmadfa, mezzosoprano

Mezzosoprano Amira Elmadfa was born in Lich/Hessen and grew up in Vienna, where she studied with Hilde Zadek. She completed her studies at the University of Music in Karlsruhe in course of which she participated in numerous productions, amongst others at the Festival Schwetzingen, the Ludwigsburger Schlossfestspiele and at the State Theatre of Karlsruhe.
She is prize winner of the International Hilde Zadek Competition in Vienna and won the First Prize at the International Song Competition in Berlin founded by Thomas Quasthoff.

In the field of song and concert Amira Elmadfa could be heard in recitals at the Arnold Schönberg Centre in Vienna, at the Konzerthaus Vienna as soloist in a series of Bach Cantatas with the Ensemble Claudiana conducted by Luca Pianca and in Pergolesi´s Stabat Mater with the Mandelring Quartet.

In the season 2009/2010 the young mezzosoprano became part of the ensemble of the Theater Kiel where she made important role debuts like Sesto (Giulio Cesare),  Dorabella (Cosi fan tutte), Hänsel (Hänsel und Gretel), Nicklausse (Les Contes d´Hoffmann), Rosina (Il Barbiere di Siviglia), Nerone (Agrippina) and Zerlina (Don Giovanni).
She was invited at the Händel Festival in Karlsruhe as Isis in Händel's Giove in Arco.  Further engagements include her debut at the Lucerne Festival in a solo recital as well as various concerts, among others at the Austrian Cultural Forum in New York, in Jerusalem and a tour accompanied by Helmut Deutsch.
