Aleksandra Šuklar


Aleksandra Šuklar was born in 1991 in Novi Sad, Serbia. She started her musical education at the age of 5, playing violin. She recieved first percussion lessons in 2002.

After the high school degree she continued percussion studies at MUK- Musik und Kunst Privatuniversität der Stadt Wien, where she finished Bachelor studies with Prof. Nebojša Jovan Živković in 2014. She has studied simultaneiously at »Universität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Wien« with Prof. Bogdan Bacanu and Prof. Josef Gumpinger.

After various early successes in competitions, among others 1st Prize including the highest number of possible points at the TEMSIG competition in Slovenia (2005, 2008), 3rd Prize at the International percussion competition Jornadas Percusion in Spain (2006), 2nd Prize at the International percussion competition PENDIM in Bulgaria (2007), Aleksandra won the »City of Samobor Award« on Ferdo Livadić competition in 2011 for the best interpretation of a composition written by a Croatian composer Igor Lešnik: Twenty years later.

She is a prizewinner of Fidelio competition 2014 and 2015 in Vienna.

 Aleksandra Šuklar has regularly performed as a soloist and chamber musician at festivals like: Festival der Kroatischen Musik in Wien, International Percussion Ensemble Week, Samobor music festival, Ivana Bilić Marimba Week, Gustav Mahler Musikwochen, Wien Modern, NOMUS, Cymbalissimo, Timpanissimo,  Percussionissimo, Vienna Saxfest, Festival Maribor, Jornadas Percusion, Bumfest, Musikfestival Neerpelt,…

 She gained her artistic experience in ensembles by sharing the stage with renowned percussionists: Ivana Bilić, Svet Stoyanov, Anders Astrand, Ney Rosauro, Dave Samuels.  

 Aleksandra has collaborated with various ensembles and orchestras : Ensemble Kontrapunkte, Die Reihe, Ensemble XX Jahrhundert, Wiener Klangkommune, Zagreb soloists, Symphony Orchestra of Vienna State Opera,  ORF Radio Symphonieorchester Wien, Wiener Kammerorchester, Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra, RTV-Slovenia Symphony Orchestra, Maribor Festival Orchestra…

 She has been improving her musical experience by attending the masterclasses with : Keiko Abe, Peter Sadlo, Anton Mittermayr, Katarzyna Myćka, Svet Stoyanov, Pius Cheung, Igor Lešnik, Nancy Zeltsman, Anders Astrand… 

Currently she is on her master studies in Vienna with renowned Prof. Nebojša Jovan Živković at MUK- Musik und Kunst Privatuniversität der Stadt Wien.
