Albert Castillo is a catalan trumpet soloist, chamber musician and teacher based in Munich, Germany.

Ongoing 2017 projects include Shostakovich concerto for piano, trumpet & orchestra, and chamber music  for trumpet, violin & piano by Eric Ewazen and Johannes Brahms.

As soloist, he has performed trumpet concertos by Haydn, Hummel, Arutunian, Neruda, Händel and Françaix in Munich. In Catalonia he also performed baroque music for trumpet and voice by Bach and Handel with soprano Íngrid Ustrell, and contemporary music with Ensemble Morpheus. He has played regularly with Munich organists and pianists.

Twice yearly he plays the Munich Handel Messiah Open Sing. He has also often performed first trumpet on Bach’s Christmas Oratorio.

From 2013 to 2015 Albert Castillo was principal trumpet in the Carl Orff Festival Orchestra in Andechs, with conductor Christian von Gehren. He has colaborated with the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra, Barcelona Wind Orchestra, State Orchestra Vidin, Camerata München and Camerata Andechs; with conductors as Josep Pons, Salvador Brotons and Lawrence Foster.

He has been trumpet and music theory instructor in various catalan music schools and conservatories, and conductor of the music school orchestras in Sant-Quirze-del-Vallés and of the Badalona symphony wind ensemble.

In other music styles, he was principal cornet of the Brass Band München, he played in spanish army wind ensembles and he has performed and recorded sardanes, catalan folk music, with the ensembles Cobla Marinada and Cobla Contemporània.  He also played jazz music in Munich with the oTunes Big Band.

 Albert Castillo began his trumpet studies and obtained a honor prize in the conservatory of his natal city Badalona, Catalonia. Afterwards he got degrees from the conservatory of Manresa and finalized his studies with the highest degree in the conservatory of the Liceu in Barcelona. His main teachers were Professor Albert García-Valero and Rodney Marsalis. Other instructors include Juano Serna, Hannes Läubin, Hans Gansch and Josef Bammer.

 He likes cooking, reading, traveling, learning languages, running and the japanese martial art of aikido.
